Will Chase has been announced as the star of the Broadway-bound musical High Fidelity. He will portray record-store owner Rob, the role played by John Cusack in the 2000 film of the same name.
Chase received positive notices for his performance last season in the short-lived Broadway musical Lennon. He recently appeared on the Great White Way as Roger in Rent. He has also starred on Broadway in Miss Saigon, The Full Monty and Aida. His regional theater credits include Trask & Fenn, Son of Fire, Assassins, Electra and Mame. Chase also notably starred in the world premiere of the musical adaptation of A Little Princess. Before High Fidelity, he will star alongside Simone in the St. Louis Muny mounting of Aida running June 26 through July 2.
The musical High Fidelity, based on Nick Hornby's novel of the same name, follows the adventures of Rob Chase, a record store owner who knows almost everything about pop music but almost nothing about how to hang onto a girl. Rob's love life, already a broken record of heartache, falls off the charts completely when he gets dumped by Laura. But that just sets him up for one of the top five romantic comebacks ever. The tuner features music by Tom Kitt, lyrics by Amanda Green and a book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
